About the Role:
We are looking for a Child and Youth Care Worker who has availability Sunday-Thursday , 11pm to 7am shifts (awake overnight), to work with High Risk Youth.
Changes For Hope Inc is an Agency who supports and provides care for youth dealing with issues of healthy connections, trauma, loss, and grief. We provide group care and emotional supports for sibling groups, children and teenagers using a holistic approach. Changes For Hope focuses on the Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual aspects of each youth in our care, understanding that each is at a different place on their journey.
We are seeking dedicated a professional caregiver to work within a home-like environment with youth. You will be responsible for evaluating the needs of client, implementing service plans, supporting cultural activities, and maintaining documentation and appointments and providing life skills training to client during your shift (cooking, cleaning, budgeting, laundry, recreation, and yard work inclusive). Building meaningful relationships with client and the community makes you an effective member of a team dedicated to client care. Education and Qualifications:
Your ability to execute creative service plans for children and youth in group care, strong written and oral communication abilities along with your well-developed supervision and program implementation skills support you in this important role. You can manage client groups, work with families, and act as a community liaison and you possess the ability to maintain a professional, open, and cooperative work relationship with co-workers conducive to meeting the needs of the child.
Your
Diploma/Degree in Child and Youth Care, Disability Studies
(or equivalent) and your strong understanding of
developmental disabilities, and trauma informed care,
will ensure your success in this position.
A vehicle and valid driver's license and drivers abstract are required for this position.
The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong teamwork skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships. Other qualifications include Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the Human Services field or equivalent experience
1 year experience in group home environment.
Must provide a current (within past 6 months) criminal record check with vulnerable sector and Children's Services Intervention check prior to confirmation of employment
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and clean driver's abstract with personal car insurance (2 million in third party liability)
Must be able to deal with any crisis situations, to ensure safety for youth in the program.
First Aid/CPR Certificate, Suicide Intervention, Crisis Intervention and Medication Administration training, Brain Story Certification, Trauma Informed Care, Aboriginal awareness and cultural diversity training are some of the requirements of the position and are the responsibility of the applicant to obtain within first 3 months of employment.
Able to work and follow Changes For Hope Inc. policies and procedures and adhere to Alberta Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
Ability to lift 50 lbs
