Salary: $39,304.00/year - $43,671.00/year

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
\xc2\xb7Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Services, Education, Social Work or Humanities;
\xc2\xb7Experience and/or desire to work with newcomer youth;
\xc2\xb7Experience in leading and running groups, particularly around topics such as leadership, philanthropy and job-searching skills;
\xc2\xb7Initiative and a strong work ethic;
\xc2\xb7Strong team-work skills as well as the ability to work independently and with low supervision;
\xc2\xb7Critical-thinking skills;
\xc2\xb7Administrative experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
\xc2\xb7Reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed);
\xc2\xb7Current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
\xc2\xb7Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search;
\xc2\xb7Three professional references.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

The YMAP Coordinator will be required to travel to visit the YMCA facilities and locations where they are responsible for Youth Engagement programs. There will also be occasional travel to other locations in the city for YMCA meetings, trainings, and community engagement work. Working hours will include occasional weekends and evenings. The YMAP Coordinator may be required to deliver programs in-person or online.

Duties and Responsibilities includes:
\xc2\xb7Work full-time, year-round, in a dynamic program (YMAP) offering support and positive experiences for high school students;
\xc2\xb7Independently deliver after-school sessions in-person five days each week from September to June for youth with a wide variety of English levels, with some weekends as needed;
\xc2\xb7Run or support summer programming for youth during July and August;
\xc2\xb7Adapt curriculum into daily lesson plans to meet student needs;
\xc2\xb7Deliver topics including: self-esteem, healthy relationships, philanthropy, using Calgary transit, resume writing, global initiatives, and cultural awareness;
\xc2\xb7Work within a team of YMAP Coordinators;
\xc2\xb7Help organize special events for youth;
\xc2\xb7Recruit participants through in-school presentations and one-on-one interviews;
\xc2\xb7Prepare and submit monthly reports, attendance, and program impact stories;
\xc2\xb7Support program evaluation;
\xc2\xb7Provide drop-in and referrals for participants when needed;
\xc2\xb7Build and maintain relationships with schools and community organizations;
\xc2\xb7Be an ambassador for YMCA programs in the community;
\xc2\xb7Ensure a clean and safe work environment;
\xc2\xb7Be based out of the Remington YMCA.
