Job Summary

The Yard Labourer plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency of the construction yard. This hands-on position supports daily activities by handling materials, operating equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to the success of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Load and unload construction materials and equipment Maintain a clean and organized yard space Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery (if certified) Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance on yard equipment Assist with inventory management and material storage Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear Support site teams with material preparation and delivery Report any hazards, damages, or equipment issues to supervisors

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent Strong work ethic and reliability Basic understanding of safety protocols Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions

Preferred:

Previous experience in construction or yard work Forklift certification or machinery operation experience Familiarity with construction materials and tools Hoisting and rigging course would be an asset Load security course
