Yard Foreman

You would be reporting to the Superintendent of Track Services, the Yard Foreman oversees and manages all phases of railway track projects including safety, scheduling, coordinating workers, materials and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed and that work is completed safely, on schedule and within budget.

Responsibility



1. To take charge of the yard functions including subassemblies, material sorting, handling, storage, custody, packaging, shipping and documentation.

2. To operate the Yard within the operating expense budget for labor, equipment

maintenance and shipping supplies including costing @ allocations.

3. To promote, enforce and update the safety policy.

4. To assist with estimating by providing material handling costs and hours.

5. To manage, organize, package, label and QA the inventory requirements for

the Operations and maintain minimum stock levels and report

6. Maintenance of the yard, buildings and equipment, (facilities and Rail siding)

Duties



Able to manage multiple projects, crews and supervision.

Schedules and coordinates daily activities for personnel.

Interface and coordinate with the customer and management personnel to execute projects

Ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and policies.

Performs administrative reporting duties as required.

Monitor and manage budget and costs.

Inspects and performs testing to ensure compliance with company standards, policies and safety regulations.

Manage safety programs and perform operational tests to ensure rules compliance.

Conducts Safety and technical training for employees.

Performs equipment inspections and training in accordance with policies.

Investigates accidents and injuries as assigned.

Performs other duties as described.

Receive/Ship/Package materials. Cut and drill rail. Sort materials.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions



Candidates regular workday is 7:30 - 4:30 (M-F) with ability to stay later if required. Candidates must also be able to remain standing an indefinite period of time.

Travel to job sites is sometimes required

Exposure to outdoor work all weather conditions Work is in and around live track (trains) Willing to travel. Must wear safety equipment when in yard or on-site visits: Safety Glasses, Boots, Vest, and Hard Hat as required. Must have a valid class five (5) driver's license or appropriate license as required for the unit. Understand the purpose & use of all rail equipment & a sound knowledge of the use of all rail specific hand power tools. Must be computer literate & have the ability to do time & equipment entry. Must be physically fit, in good condition and have excellent vision, hearing and eye/hand coordination to perform the duties of the job. Ability to pass background checks including pre-employment drug screening. Must take E-RAIL Safe Course provided.

Qualifications



A minimum of 10 year railroad industry related experience. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Applicants need to have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be able to pass a strict background check - No felony convictions. Must be willing to travel with a territory of the Canada and US. Must be qualified equipment operator; forklift, truck, loader, crane or welder. Industrial First Aid
