Writer/Editor - Independent School Applications

About Us:


We are an education consulting practice that supports families applying to independent schools in Vancouver and beyond. Our work involves helping newly or recently immigrated parents and students craft polished application statements, essays, and related materials that reflect their authentic voices (often working with translated text) while aligning with each school's values and expectations.

Role Overview:


We are seeking skilled

writers

to join our team on a project-based basis. You will assist in editing and refining written materials for school applications, ensuring they are clear, engaging, and tailored to the specific institution.

Compensation:


This is a project-based role. Writers/editors will be

paid per statement completed

. Given the high volume of writing and editing opportunities available, the earning potential is significant for those who can consistently deliver quality work.

Key Responsibilities:



Draft, edit and refine parent statements while maintaining applicant authenticity, while enhancing clarity, structure, and impact. Research and incorporate school-specific values and themes where relevant. Work collaboratively and reliably with our lead consultant to meet deadlines.

Requirements:



Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong command of grammar, tone, and style. Ability to adapt writing for different audiences (parents, students, admissions committees). Strong attention to detail, with the ability to catch nuance and avoid cliches. Reliable and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced admissions cycle. Discretion and professionalism--confidentiality is critical.

Preferred Qualifications:



First-hand experience with

independent schools

(alumni or prior staff/faculty). This background provides valuable insight into the culture, values, and expectations of these institutions. Familiarity with independent school or college application processes and the unique writing style they require.
