Applicants for the program should have a substantial publishing record with recognized publishers. The stipend is $15,000 and does not include a housing allowance.While one of the primary functions of this writing residency is to provide the writer with an extended period of time to concentrate on their own writing, our program also provides opportunities for the writer to interact extensively with the Langara College community, enabling this audience\'s appreciation and understanding of both the writer\'s work and contemporary Canadian writing.Duties and Responsibilities:Independent ActivitiesThe candidate is encouraged to use their free time to develop a writing project, with Langara providing office space and other support.Community EngagementThe writer in residence is a member of the college community and therefore involved in a number of College-related events:\xc2\xb7 College-wide talk/reading(s)\xc2\xb7 Participation in the Strangers on a Train reading series\xc2\xb7 Social engagement(s) with College faculty/administrationStudent Mentorship\xc2\xb7 Office hours two days a week for manuscript consultations with students\xc2\xb7 Classroom visits for creative writing and literatureApplications should be submitted using the link above and include a resume/CV outlining your relevant qualifications, publications, and experience; a cover letter highlighting your expertise and vision for the residency; and a recent writing sample of up to 10 pages.
