About Us

INKspire is a non-profit organization that strives to empower youth voices by providing a curated web platform where young people can share their ideas and perspectives on various relevant and contemporary topics across Canada and around the world.

INKspire\'s Writers\' Fellowship Program is designed to give aspiring writers (aged 18-25) a platform to express themselves while gaining valuable publishing experience and insights.

Volunteer Position Description

As a volunteer writer in INKspire\'s Writers\' Fellowship Program, you will commit to writing for INKspire for a minimum of one (1) year. In this time frame, you can expect to publish five (5) articles to our website ( ). In addition to building a portfolio of published works and learning about the publishing process, you will also be attending workshops to improve your writing and gain industry insights. By completing the entire year\'s program and publishing all five articles, you can expect to receive a $350 honorarium and a certificate for completing your work.

When applying to this position, you will select one of the following platforms to specialize in:

  • Social Issues: Discuss the most pressing topics and issues of our time
  • Arts: Explore our relationship with creativity and the various mediums we use
  • Creative: Unleash your imagination and tell stories that illustrate your experiences
  • Science and Technology: Interrogate the relationship between science and society
Please note that while you will be specializing in only one of these platforms, you will have the opportunity to write in the other platforms.

Also note that you may choose to write about any topic you wish as long as it is appropriate within (1) INKspire\'s terms of use (i.e. no discriminatory language), and (2) the scope of the selected platform.

Responsibilities and Commitments
  • Must commit to one (1) year volunteering with INKspire
  • Must publish five (5) articles
  • Must attend all workshops and related meetings (i.e. team discussions, brain-storming sessions, etc.)
  • Must be located in Canada
  • Volunteer work is completely remote/work from home; typically meetings and workshops will be held in the evenings or during a time that works best for most participants
  • Time commitment: approximately 3-5 hours a week
  • Start Date: September 18th, 2023 (subject to change)
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong command of the English language, with exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Able to maintain unique voice while adopting INKspire\'s style and tone
  • Creative and critical thinker and writer
  • Reliable and able to independently manage time
  • Passionate about writing and sharing ideas with peers, through both writing articles and group discussions via Zoom
  • Is between the ages of 18 and 25
Priority will be given to youth living in the City of Toronto or within the Greater Toronto Area and who self-identify as a member of the following groups: women, racialized persons, Indigenous Peoples, LGBTQ2S+ persons, and people with disabilities. However, we strongly encourage all who are interested to apply.
