About Us

INKspire is a non-profit organization that strives to empower youth voices by providing a curated web platform where young people can share their ideas and perspectives on various relevant and contemporary issues across Canada and around the world.

Write to Discover is INKspire\'s free, online, creative writing workshops for youth ages 15 to 24. It is designed to introduce participants at a beginner\'s level for the type of creative writing selected for each session.

Volunteer Description

INKspire is looking for a Volunteer Workshop Curriculum Developer to plan, create and review content for our creative writing workshops under the Write to Discover program. The ideal candidate must be goal oriented and motivated with excellent organizational and planning skills.

Roles / Responsibilities

  • Outline the design of workshops by identifying action areas, determining priority outcomes, and the necessary conditions to achieve project milestones
  • Develop and design workshop curriculum and content including workshop materials and aids
  • Reviews the workshop slides and activities to ensure they are appropriate for beginners and respectful to participants
  • Attending and contributing to the weekly team meetings
  • Help organize and plan out workshop logistics and scheduling
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as needed
Qualifications
  • Highly effective interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Strong leadership and collaborative skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness
  • Knowledge of curriculum development methodologies and modern learning approaches
  • Experience designing and developing workshop curriculum for youth
  • Comfortable and willing to collaborate and work closely as a team
  • Has experience in creative writing (i.e. short story, poetry, screen-writing, etc.) (asset)
  • Worked or volunteered in a non-profit setting (asset)
Time Commitment and Location
  • Flexible hours, approx. 3-5 hours a week
  • Volunteer must be able to commit to the position for a minimum of 6 months
  • Work from home / remote work
  • Volunteer must be located in Canada
