Program Overview
This project supports high-risk youth in Edmonton who are involved in the justice system. Over a one-year period, participants engage in life skills, employment training, and career preparation. Working Warriors focuses on three key areas: Pre-Intervention, Programming, and Post-Intervention. Your primary role is to ensure youth receive effective, respectful, and relevant services that support their growth and transition.
As the Intake & Referral Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for youth entering the program. You will assess readiness, confirm commitment, and connect participants to supports and services. Working closely with program staff, community partners, and referral agencies, you will help youth overcome barriers and successfully engage in the program.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial interviews with youth applicants to determine program eligibility and suitability.
Administer intake forms, needs assessments, and employment readiness screenings.
Identify barriers to employment and develop an individualized support/referral plan.
Connect youth to internal and external supports, including mental health, addictions, housing, education, and social services.
Maintain strong relationships with community partners, referral agencies, and service providers.
Track and follow up on referrals to ensure participants are successfully connected to services.
Provide participants with orientation to program expectations, resources, and supports.
Collaborate with employment coaches, case managers, and program facilitators to support participant success.
Monitor attendance, engagement, and progress throughout the program. Demonstrate effective time management skills, strong professional boundaries and quick and efficient problem-solving skills.
Maintain accurate and confidential participant files and databases.
Prepare reports and statistics on intakes, referrals, and outcomes for funders and management.
Ensure compliance with program policies, confidentiality, and privacy standards.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Social Work, Human Services, Youth Work, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
Minimum 2 years' experience working with high-risk youth or vulnerable populations.
Knowledge of employment services, community resources, and referral processes.
Strong interviewing, assessment, and crisis intervention skills.
Knowledge of the Indigenous culture, new immigrants, ethno-cultural groups and vulnerable populations.
Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a Driver's Abstract

Pay: $53,231.62-$55,893.20 per year
