As the Working Foreperson/Leadhand, you will be responsible for the service, repair, installation and operation of electrical equipment, controls and components within the Buildings section of Calgary Transit (CT). Primary duties include:Perform monthly, semi-annual, annual inspections per assigned work orders. Schedule the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical power distribution and control systems, fixtures, apparatus and appliances. Test, calibrate, replace and upgrade electrical devices and components. Troubleshoot and resolve various automation, control and electrical system problems. Complete required paperwork associated with the completion of work orders, Mastercard statements, confined/restricted space entry, Field Level Hazzard Assessments, and Daily Work Plans. Perform walk through assessments of new construction, renovations and life cycle installations.


Qualifications

A completed Journeyperson Electrical certificate, as recognized by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board (or equivalent Red Seal). At least 4 years of post-Journeyperson experience as an electrician, and in-depth knowledge of commercial building electrical systems. Familiarity with Building Automation Systems is required. A valid Fire Alarm certificate and/or service truck experience will be considered assets. A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending. Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit. You demonstrate troubleshooting skills and the ability to: + Resolve various electrical and fire alarm problems;
+ Effectively work both independently and within a team;
+ Read and interpret blueprints, building plans and schematic drawings (related to electrical distribution, lighting, power and fire alarm systems).
You are a strong communicator, with excellent organizational judgement, prioritization, and analytical skills.
