Written and oral communication skills acceptable to the employer that meet the requirements of the role of Worker - Security.
Completion of security training / Provincial security licensing/police sciences would be a definite asset
Experience in security would be preferred, but complete training and support will be provided
Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention would be an asset, but training will be provided

Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide security for assigned building/property, ensuring a safe environment for all clients and staff of SLFNHA, and respond to emergency alarms, ongoing incidents and other situations as follows the security department's operating procedures.
Conduct hourly checks of the Hostel building, the parking lot, all hostel wings, electrical rooms, stairwells and fencing around propane tanks and other SLFNHA properties, report issues, concerns, including required maintenance such as faulty lighting, slippery floors, etc.
Ensure fire exits are clear, security access doors are working, and corridors are clear
Ensure all incident reports are documented, ensure that all relevant parties are informed, and the Serious Occurrence Incident Report (SOIR) system is updated.
Use CCTV surveillance equipment and ensure the CCTV security system is in working order at all times.
Provide client services to elders and others, such as assisting with bags when entering and leaving the hostel, providing directions and hostel information, assisting clients who require assistance to medical appointments, and helping them in and out of vehicles.
Provide and approach all clients respectfully with a calm demeanor, ensuring communication is professional at all times, including in situations that are sensitive and challenging.
Work professionally with other agencies in Sioux Lookout, such as OPP, Tikinagan, Nodin, Meno YA Win Health Centre, etc.
Provide shoveling and sanding when required, ensuring exits are clear at all times.
Participate in training and orientation of new staff
Conducting wellness and safety checks
Take the lead and give direction in the evacuation process
Assist when required and perform any other duties assigned

Ability to work long hours with extended periods on foot.
Considerable Bending, lifting, standing walking (up to 50lbs)
Position involves differing shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Position involves 12-hour shifts, days and nights
Involves working outdoors in various weather conditions
