The incumbent will be responsible to promote Westburne's full range of Wire & Cable Products throughout the Westburne Ontario Division, working closely with Manufacturers, Branch Managers, Outside Sales Reps, supporting staff and their customers. Identify customer/market needs for Wire & Cable products and offer product solutions as well as necessary technical support and information to internal/external customers. Assisting customers, branches, and sales reps with Wire & Cable Product info and recommendations as required. Identifying new opportunities/customers and acting on them to procure new business.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To identify the business market in Wire & Cable products and keep supporting departments (Purchasing, Marketing, Etc) informed of critical industry changes. Implementing and maintaining strategic marketing and sales plans and programs in support of the Wire & Cable products business.
  • Analyze market conditions (local market conditions, competitive forces, market share, opportunities for growth), develop annual business plans and co-ordinates implementation of same. Implement marketing, promotion programs and product launches.
  • Implement strategies to attack competition and grow market penetration using marketing tools (Point of sale, direct mail, local telesales, etc.). Consult with management and the support group to discuss issues involving pricing, product specifications and product applications.
  • Cultivates key business relationships to call on designated prospective customers and solicit orders. Maintains good rapport and informs of sales promotions.
  • Attend industry trade shows, supplier technical seminars and training courses to remain updated and maintains skill level on existing and new technology.
  • Ensure that all customers and inside sales staff in the region receive necessary technical support and/or product training.
  • Contact suppliers and determines suitable products for the application. Prepares pricing for project quotes and a bill of material. Prepares an account proposal and negotiates terms of account with customers involving assigned products.
  • Develop technical training seminars for customers on new and existing products. Develop a list of prospective customers with the Branch Managers/Outside Sales Reps and contribute to customer profiles and mailing list.
  • Compare pricing and market conditions to determine reasons for receiving or losing an order. Analyze competitive trends and strategies and the impact of new products marketed by competitors.
  • Works closely with the Branch Managers and the Sales Managers on key aspects of the sales and marketing of security products.
  • Enforce proper implementation and application of company policies and procedures in general.
  • Take responsibility and care of assigned company assets such as personal computers and demo equipment.
  • Provide input into inventory management of existing, new and obsolete products to sales initiative.
  • Maintain records of sales and accounts obtained. Ensures budgeted sales figures are obtained and notify Manager of changes in the demand for products and services.
Must have:
  • Extensive inside/outside sales experience in the Wire & Cable sector Minimum of 5 years.
  • Strong presentation and consensus-building skills to effectively listen, communicate, and gain consensus with customers and other members of technical sales team.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or undergo immediate training to acquire the required level of computer skills.
  • Able to conduct Wire & Cable audits, layouts, takeoffs, and all other tasks associated with being a Wire & Cable professional.
  • Able to read and interpret relevant documents such as product specifications, contracts, technical and procedure manuals.
  • Able to speak effectively to customers using negotiating and selling skills to maintain continued service.
  • Ability to work and make decisions with minimum supervision and under can perform under pressure.
