Job Summary



MCHS is currently seeking experienced equipment operators, with strong backgrounds in general labor to support our team this winter season. As a 24/7 service provider, candidates must be available for shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays. We are looking for reliable, safety-conscious individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Please note: The job is bargaining unit position. Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the current collective agreement with the BCGEU.

Key Responsibilities



Preparing and operating light and heavy maintenance equipment such as patrol trucks, loaders, plows, spreaders, backhoes, etc. Providing winter maintenance to the Pemberton area including the Duffy Lake Road, Pemberton Meadows, D'Arcy, Birken, and surrounding areas. Undertaking all job duties assigned and pertaining to the operations of Miller Capilano Highway Services including and not limited to plowing snow, salting, sanding, brining, jack hammer operation, compaction equipment operation, snow shoveling and others. Completing all required paperwork including driver inspection documents, vehicle safety checks, timesheets, reports and other operational documents, as required. Performing required preventative and routine equipment maintenance, which includes but is not limited to, cleaning/washing the interior and exterior of equipment, changing plow blades, minor equipment repairs, greasing equipment and refueling equipment after use. Understanding the importance of good public and employee relations. Following instructions accurately and promptly. Traffic control and management duties as required by the MoTT Traffic Management Manual. Complete other duties as required to support overall operations.

Qualification Requirements



Valid Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement and a clean driving abstract. Experience in highway maintenance and/or road building/utility construction Working knowledge of the Traffic Control Manual; Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification is an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Reliable, punctual, and ready to work in a team-oriented environment. Willing and able to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Physically able to meet all job requirements and perform satisfactorily all highway maintenance and emergency assignments in a manner that promotes cost effective operations, staff co-operation and working in a safe and environmentally friendly manner at all times.
