About the role
This co-op position is to support the Communications Integrated Product Team within the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Program. The candidate will be joining a multi-disciplined team environment. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collaborating on system design activities with senior systems engineering and other engineering staff, including supporting technical reviews
Performing requirements analysis
Reviewing requirements, requirements allocation and trade studies
Performing system modelling and design, including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
System architecture and design
System integration planning
Design documentation
Planning and managing team tasks in JIRA
Managing team information in Confluence
Following systems engineering processes and best practices.
What you bring to the role
Pursuing a degree in System Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Candidate must be available for four (4) months, starting January 2026
Eligible for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret clearance in a timely manner.
Additional skills desired for the role
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the engineering/management staff and personnel assigned to related work
Aptitude for solving challenging problems in a team environment
Have a high degree of initiative and autonomy
Have a high learning ability
Ability to adapt and perform in a dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks
Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
Experience with Agile methods
Experience with Jira and Confluence
Experience with Communications Systems or relevant course.
Language Requirements in Quebec
Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
