We are looking for a Wildlife Field Coordinator to join our Team.

Position Profile:

The Field Coordinator is a dynamic role that combines hands-on fieldwork with logistics, planning, and public education. You will play a key role in coordinating and supporting wildlife rescue operations, working closely with our Support Centre and volunteer teams to deliver effective and efficient rescue operations. This position also involves administrative and coordination work, including developing protocols, training resources and maintaining accurate records.

Position type:

40 hours per week, permanent

Compensation:

$ 22.00 - 23.00 per hour.

Who WE are

Established in 1979, the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC is a leader in the rehabilitation of wild animals and is committed to educating the public on how to coexist peacefully with wildlife. Located in Burnaby, BC, we are Western Canada's busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, with approximately 5,000 animal patients admitted each year.

Meet Our Field Team

Our Field Team consists of highly trained volunteers who work tirelessly to rescue, stabilize, and transport injured and orphaned wildlife to our rehabilitation centre. This team collaborates closely with our Support Centre to ensure every rescue is done safely, efficiently, and with compassion. Joining this team means being part of a group that thrives on quick thinking, teamwork, and a shared passion for protecting wildlife.

Highlight of Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and support wildlife rescue field operations Respond to calls for injured or distressed wildlife and ensure safe capture and transport to our rehabilitation centre Foster clear, ongoing communication with the public, rescuers and the Support Centre team Maintain accurate records of field activities and animal admissions Ensure proper handling and safety protocols are followed Train and guide volunteers assisting with field operations Monitor and maintain rescue equipment and supplies Contribute to public education and outreach efforts Develop written protocols and training plans for the program Hold a position with the Occupational Health and Safety Committee

Key Qualifications & Experience

Experience in wildlife handling, animal care, or related field work Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and organizational skills, and strong ability to follow written and verbal protocols Diligent about abiding by health and safety protocols Confident in representing Wildlife Rescue to the public Valid driver's license and comfortable with driving in variable conditions Possession of a personal vehicle for business use is required, with mileage reimbursed at the federal rate. Rabies vaccinated or willingness to be vaccinated (employer covered cost) Knowledge of local wildlife species and rescue protocols is an asset We encourage all interested candidates to apply--we're looking for the right fit!
