Job Summary


We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Wildlife Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal sciences and a commitment to fostering a love for wildlife and environmental stewardship. This role involves developing and delivering educational programs, engaging with diverse audiences, and promoting awareness of wildlife rehabilitation, wildlife natural behavior, conservation, and environmental issues.

Responsibilities



The Wildlife Educator books, delivers, and coordinates the PWRC Education Program to the public. Ensures participants and clients are satisfied with the quality of programs and services delivered. Developing and delivering educational programs for different age groups and audiences, such as school groups, community organizations, media and the general public. Learning all materials and doing presentations on a regular basis. Creating and maintaining educational exhibits, displays, and interactive activities that promote conservation and wildlife education. Marketing the education program and social media posts: making our services more visible to Manitoba educators and members of the public. Collaborating with other professionals, such as wildlife biologists, zoologists, and park rangers, to develop educational programs and activities. Participating in outreach events and community activities to promote awareness of wildlife conservation issues. Developing or updating current educational materials, such as brochures, videos, and websites, to communicate conservation messages to a wider audience. Recruiting Volunteers: finding and screening volunteers able to participate in training for the education team and doing presentations within schools. Providing training and mentoring to volunteers and staff members who assist with educational programs and activities.

Requirements



A bachelor's degree in a related field such as zoology, wildlife biology, ecology, environmental education or a related field is required. In addition, relevant work experience in a related field, such as working in a zoo or nature center, can also be valuable. Public speaking experience necessary. Bilingual an asset Experience with domestic animals required, animal behaviour & training an asset Access to a vehicle and valid Manitoba driver's license. Excellent communication skills, creativity, and a passion for wildlife conservation are also essential qualities for a Wildlife Educator. Skilled in delivering and adapting educational lesson plans Experience coordinating programs. Experience with community networking and outreach. Experience working in a non-profit environment. Experience with volunteer management & supervision. Experience creating social media posts and creating with Canva.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $2,925.00-$3,575.00 per month
