The Yellowknives Dene First Nation is seeking motivated and reliable

Wellness Workers

to support recreational programming and the upkeep of community facilities in Dettah. This role is an important part of building healthy, active spaces for families and community members.



About the Role



Reporting to the Dettah/Nd?l? Wellness Programmer, the Wellness Worker will assist in planning and delivering recreation programs and special events, supervise facilities such as the gym, ball field, and ice rinks, and ensure that safety, cleanliness, and maintenance standards are upheld. Key responsibilities include:


Supporting youth and adult programming Assisting with community field trips Working with volunteers Supervising canteen operations Maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for all patrons. The role also involves daily facility checks, minor preventative maintenance, and accurate record-keeping for incidents, accidents, and cash handling.




Key Details




Schedule: (Tuesday-Thursday, 6:00-9:00 pm) and (Saturday-Sunday 4:00-9:00pm). Flexibility may be required to meet community needs. Location: Dettah/Nd?l?. Compensation: Salary is dependent on qualifications and follows the YKDFN wage structure.




Qualifications



Applicants must have a minimum Grade 10 education, First Aid/CPR certification, and at least one year of experience in a similar role. Recreation leadership training, the ability to handle cash, strong communication skills, and reliability are required. Experience working with First Nation organizations and knowledge of Dene culture are important assets. The ability to speak Wiiliideh Yatii (Dogrib) or Chipewyan is considered a strong advantage.



Preference will be given to qualified members of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
