WELLNESS NAVIGATOR

School of Graduate Studies
(Contractual Position to April 30, 2024)

BACKGROUND

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is the central academic support unit at Memorial University for approximately 4,300 graduate students enrolled in over 170 graduate diploma, master\xe2\x80\x99s, and doctoral degree programs across three campuses. Through our network of academic and service units partners we are also responsible for graduate enrolment management, graduate student services and skills training, internationalization, faculty supervisor training and supports, administration of graduate student funding and awards, timely completion of graduate programs, and preparation for life and success after graduate school.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Director of Graduate Enrolment Services, the Wellness Navigator will play a key role in providing support to graduate students at every phase of their academic career. This position will be responsible for providing single-session focused therapy and case management by using an interprofessional model approach. The Wellness Navigator will be providing virtual mental health and in-person support; delivering consulting services to other University departments and groups; navigating referrals within the University and community-based resources for addictions and mental health needs; utilizing a healthy campus model and working with University stakeholders and community agencies to identify and respond to the needs of students; maintaining a high level of professional knowledge and skill pertaining to single session, case management, mental health, and wellness navigation; and performing other related duties and interventions as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (minimum 3 years) in advising or navigation roles with a focus on mental health; completion of a master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or Nursing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the mental health needs of individuals, families, and communities; experience working with diverse populations; experience and training in using single session counselling, crisis and suicide intervention, and mental health first aid training. Overall demonstrated experience working in an environment with an accessibility and inclusion lens is required, as well as experience managing complex student issues, including challenges related to equity, accessibility, mental health, and intercultural diversity.
SALARY
$65,639 - $81,079 per annum (Management and Professional) An upscale hiring step will apply to this position (Step 16) CLOSING DATE March 17, 2023
