Work Hours: Must be available to work 6 days a week between Monday - Sunday

YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.



The Wellness Coordinator supports the overall health and well-being of campers and staff through the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of camp wellness programs. This role provides leadership to wellness and mental health staff, ensuring quality standards, safety procedures, and health protocols are consistently maintained. The position oversees daily operations of the wellness centre, including inventory management, medication administration, and recordkeeping. The Wellness Coordinator also supports the camp community by fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that promotes both physical and mental health.


In this role, you will:




Provide leadership to the Wellness Staff and Mental Health Specialist by giving ongoing constructive feedback and completing formal mid-season and end-of-summer appraisals Provide leadership to the staff team by supporting the Director team in delivering health and wellness training, ensuring a focus on both physical and mental health and safety Support the camp community's overall health and wellness by providing resources and guidance, reviewing camper and staff health forms, monitoring pertinent health information requiring special attention, and checking in with staff and campers as needed Oversee the day-to-day operation of camp wellness programs by delegating tasks to wellness staff and ensuring inventory, laundry, restocking, and medication organization are maintained Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, including maintaining all required records and documentation related to the camp wellness program, and completing accident and incident reports and follow-ups as required Ensure Health and Safety procedures are followed and maintained, and share responsibility with the staff team for keeping all areas clean, organized, and safe for campers, staff, and volunteers Support the out-tripping program by checking pre- and post-trip preparations and assisting counsellors with packing and inventorying first aid kits Respond to and resolve first aid situations promptly and with care, ensuring communication with the Camp Director, external healthcare providers, and parents as necessary Dispense camper medication according to instructions outlined on camper health forms Support campers and staff in having a positive experience at camp through regular check-ins with campers, groups, and counsellors Attend all staff training sessions and meetings, arriving on time and actively contributing to the development of all staff members Act as a positive role model for all participants and staff by demonstrating the values of the YMCA, Pine Crest's guiding principles, YMCA policies and procedures, and Ontario Camps Association guidelines Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:




Post-secondary education (complete) in nursing, child and youth studies, social work, or a similar field, or equivalent experience Standard First Aid & CPR "C" required by the first day of camp and valid until the last day of your contract Mental Health First Aid required by the first day of camp Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder an asset Valid driver's license an asset Previous experience working with children and youth, preferably in a camp or wellness setting Experience in a leadership role, with supervisory experience preferred Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required Demonstrated ability to multitask and adapt to change Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication skills Well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with members, staff, and volunteers Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment to achieve optimal collective results Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging
