Job Description

The Welfare Administrator's job functions include specific processing of employer benefit contributions, and member information related to hours, and enrolment. He or she ensures reporting is accurate in order to determine benefit plan entitlements for members, identify employer payment irregularities, initiate collection efforts and carry out delinquency procedures.



Working Hours:

Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Special working condition: rotating shift schedule Saturday 8am to 12pm.

The Welfare Administrator will:

Process reciprocal hours transfer requests received by affiliated locals on members' behalf Run monthly queries to identify member record discrepancies eg. Double coverage Produce letters requested by members confirming benefit status, eligibility and dependent information. Responds to enquiries from members, employers, and union representatives. Liaise with CCO office - print daily delinquency report, and investigate issues Log contribution reports received by mail Analyze and identify discrepancies with employer contributions Outstanding balance summaries and letters to employers An employee will be required to perform any other job-related duties required by the manager.


Key Contacts/Relationships External and Internal:

Reports directly to Operations Manager. Communicates with and answers enquires from other departments. Deals directly with participating employers, benefit plan members, union representatives and staff.

To be successful as a Welfare Administrator with BPA, you will need:

Fluency in English and proficiency in Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish is preferred Minimum secondary school graduate, post secondary education preferred. Exposure to office administration and clerical processes particularly related to data analysis, and account reconciliation. PC proficient with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word skills essential). Demonstrated mathematical aptitude. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledgeable on relevant Collective Agreement and associated benefit plan. Skill in performing detailed numerical computations. Ability to closely analyze and focus on detailed reporting and investigate discrepancies. Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
