We are seeking a skilled Welding Technician who will work with Engineers to ensure that welding processes meet or exceed customer requirements with respect to safety, quality, flexibility, and throughput. Assist the maintenance crew in resolving welding issues found in teardown and caused by equipment failures. Assist the engineers to establish process parameters to conform to all requirements and develop, analyze and implement continuous improvement ideas on current programs as well as support new program development.
Duties/Responsibilities
Program, tool, set up and operate robots and automated welding equipment.
Advanced programming and welding expertise (CNC programming software including Admac-Parts and Mastercam V9)
Perform set-ups in an organized and timely manner
Responsible for maintaining and reviewing parameters for each welding program
Troubleshoot, repair and adjust (Panasonic), weld controllers, etc. using PLC's and HMI
Assist with changeover of equipment, components and tooling
Adjust MIG, Projection and Spot-welding machines
Full understanding of work orders, set up instructions, and procedures
Responsible for daily preventative maintenance
Update and review Welding software saving the programs every two weeks
To assist the engineers in the welding process and weld validation for new programs and ongoing engineering changes in conjunction with the Engineering Department .
To determine Root Cause Analysis of weld failures and present a plan to control
To investigate and support Customer Concerns on welding processes
To work on weld failures on a daily basis.
To physically work on the welding equipment, robots, and other devices involved in the welding process
To work with the engineers in establishing a system for weld schedule changes
Must participate in plant meetings and Continuous Improvement ideas
Help maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment throughout the plant
Assist in the installation, training, and start-up of new and existing projects
Daily hands on approach would be required for resolution of recurring quality issues of technical failures
Work in compliance with IATF16949 standards
Work in compliance with all legislative requirements of the OHSA
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Post-secondary diploma from a technical college in Robotic Welding,Electro-Mechanical, or Automation
Possess a minimum 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in resistance, projection, and MIG welding processes in an automated robotic welding environment
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
Experience with Robotic MIG, Projection and spot-welding
Must have very strong PLC skills
Experience with Panasonic, and Allen Bradley PLC's
Ability to read blueprints
Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements
(Scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)
Able to work, communicate and provide guidance within a team environment
Excellent understanding and comprehension of weld schedules and weld parameters
Extensive knowledge of welding processes, equipment, and robotic applications
Good Knowledge of customer-related weld specifications and applications
Must have excellent knowledge of welding controllers (Medar and Bosch)
Sound understanding of Metallurgy and welding technology
Thorough knowledge and experience of weld quality and weld
integrity in MIG, resistance, and projection welding processes

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
