The Welding Engineer is responsible for overseeing projects and for managing the welding teams. This role works in conjunction with the Production Manager, Sales and Quality Control to create and sustain a positive, high energy continuous improvement environment while meeting customer schedules and specifications. This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

In the role of the Welding Engineer you will:



Actively participate in preparing engineering fabrication packages and other process documentation for the manufacturing of custom heavy fabrications. Be responsible for planning and directing all aspects of engineering activities within the company and take innovative initiatives in organizing and prioritizing engineering resources. Ensure that all work is completed successfully and accurately in a timely manner Review of plant & design engineering, and performing technical evaluations and design calculations. Accurately maintain budgets and schedules for each project and take a hands-on involvement in plant engineering (automation) tooling, fixture, process design and material flow. Manage product engineering activities following quality assurance requirements and applicable industry codes and standards, including but not limited to CSA N285, ASME Section III, Section VIII. Prepare quotes in conjunction with other departments and oversee the day to day project management. Interface with current customers and maintain a customer-focused culture and provide support to the operations manager and general manager. Actively promote and adhere to the companies requirements for safety, productivity and quality. Be a natural mentor and coach who supports the continuous growth of the team and the organization to ensure success in all areas of the business. Be responsible for driving continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. Perform other duties as we may need you to do.
In the role of the Welding Engineer you will:

Accurately develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles. Initiate research opportunities and manage the development of new technologies, processes and innovation to ensure Niagara Energy Products is well positioned within the industry to deliver sales and service that improves processes and profitability. Improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses. Be responsible for preparing technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations. Establish and implement welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements. Carefully evaluate new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes. Guide, lead and coordinate technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards; in testing welds for conformance with national code requirements; or testing welding personnel for certification. Be a natural mentor and coach who supports the continuous growth of the team and the organization to ensure success in all areas of the business.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
