Position Summary:

The Welder/Fitter will be responsible for welding and fitting structural steel components according to specifications, blueprints, and quality standards. This role requires CWB certification, proficiency in FCAW and GMAW welding, and the ability to read and interpret drawings. The Welder/Fitter will play a key role in ensuring high-quality fabrication, supporting efficient shop operations, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of steel welding and/or fitting experience Current CWB FCAW and GMAW Flat ticket required Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes Possess own layout tools and welding gear Forklift certification considered an asset Overhead crane certification considered an asset Ability to operate standard shop equipment (grinders, band saws, OAC torches, ironworker, drill presses, etc.) Physically fit and able to handle materials and equipment as required Strong adherence to all health and safety regulations Able to perform tasks independently under general direction and in a team environment Reliable transportation to and from the workplace

Responsibilities:

Weld and fit structural steel assemblies according to drawings and specifications Prepare parts for structural assemblies using various metal processing equipment Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies using appropriate measuring tools Operate shop cranes and forklifts to move materials safely Perform daily inspections on welding equipment, cranes, and tools as required Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies Support other shop operations and perform additional duties as directed by the department manager Manage portals, naming conventions, and packaging; file on time with complete appendices; confirm receipt. Support subcontractor outreach during the tender process and assist with bid-related communication Participate in post-submission reviews and debriefs to improve future proposal quality and efficiency
