Answer Precision Technologies (APT) is a rapidly growing automation and equipment manufacture in Kitchener. We specialize in designing and developing state-of-the-art Assembly Automation Systems, Precision Checking Fixtures, and Mould Tooling. The Welder/Fabricator lays out, welds, and assembles and inspects various structures using a variety of materials, tools and processes. They interpret technical drawings and instructions to complete projects accurately while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

:

Welding & Fabrication:

Weld, fabricate, and repair various metals using appropriate techniques

Assembly & Alignment:

Position, align, and fit parts using jigs, hand tools, welding equipment and other equipment

Process Selection:

Determine the best welding process for efficiency and quality

Blueprint & Specification Compliance:

Study blueprints, interpret drawings, and ensure compliance with client specifications

Quality & Inspection:

Inspect materials, verify conformance to tolerances, and correct defects in materials, equipment, or structures

Materials & Process Knowledge:

Understand material properties for manufacturing and repair, with experience in gauge building, mould making, dies, jigs and fixtures, and automation

Tools & Safety:

Use measuring instruments accurately, maintain tools properly, and adhere to safety regulations

Workplace Efficiency:

Perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and maintaining a clean workspace

Collaboration & Training:

Work as part of a team, assist in training co-op students, and contribute to company goals

Workplace Standards:

Follow PPE requirements, complete mandatory training, maintain a clean work environment, and seek continuous improvement opportunities

Additional Duties:

Occasionally make deliveries using the company vehicle, occasional travel to Mexico to support that facility, must have valid licence and passport, other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:



Experience & Certification:

5+ years of assembling/fabrication experience; CWB certification preferred but not required

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding, blueprint reading, welding symbols, and industry safety practices, CAD drawings, GD&T, measurement skills, basic math, able to work with precision

Education:

Completion of secondary school diploma or equivalent

Equipment Operation:

Ability to use various tools, heavy machinery, forklifts, and cranes

Manufacturing Knowledge

: Familiar with various manufacturing industries, their products, terminology, and processes

Specialized Knowledge

: Strong understanding of building gauges, fixtures, moulds and automation products

Physical attributes:

Manual dexterity, ability to lift at least 10kgs (20 lbs); standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying will be required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
