The primary role of a Welder/fabricator is to fit and weld a variety of assemblies and work pieces ranging in different materials and thickness. Work efficiently and with quality in mind to deliver a superior part. Keep the welding area clean and organized and be responsible for the stock levels of consumables for the welding machines. In performing their jobs, the Welder/fabricator is expected to:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
Report to work on time daily with a positive attitude and optimistic outlook.
Wear and always respect the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and company issued uniforms when on company grounds (yard and shop).
Take responsibility for the Welding area:
Ensuring parts are correct to spec and meet the drawing requirements.
Ensuring that the welding area is adequately cleaned prior to the end of shift.
Ensuring that there are adequate supplies/consumables for carrying out day to day tasks.
Capable of lifting 60-70lbs unassisted.
It is an included and expected responsibility that Health and Safety of the employees as well as fellow employees be a part of every one's day to day activities.
Read and interpret engineering prints or weld process specifications.
Operate grinding equipment for joint and surface preparation.
Welding of various heavy equipment attachments and components utilizing MCAW & FCAW.
Ensure workmanship throughout the manufacturing process and on finished goods meets or exceeds the quality, and schedule expectations of all customers.
Communicate ideas for process improvements to General Manager.
Additional duties may be assigned by Supervisor/Manager from time to time.
Operate powered equipment such as forklifts.
Perform all work in a safe manner, following work instructions and / or safe operating procedures.
Shift to be worked: 4:00pm - 2:30 am Monday - Thursday.
Administrative
Attends regular meetings associated with job (i.e. H&S meeting, etc.).
Fill out the production and quality logs to complete the work.
Ensure daily checks on equipment are complete and handed in to supervisor.
Ensure production reports are filled in and handed in to supervisor at the end of shift.
Education and Experience
CWB certification is not necessary though it is an asset as we are a CWB certified shop.
Minimum 5+ years related experience in 1/16 MCAW and 1/16 FCAW is essential.
Communication skills to read, write, listen, and speak in a clear and concise manner.
Time management skills to productively complete work and meet all expected deadlines.
Capable of driving a forklift. (Preferred but not required)
Possess a suitable combination of education and experience as deemed acceptable by management, to be able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined for the role.
Skill Requirements
1/16" flux core all positions, CWB flux core is an asset.
Metal core experience.
Fitting/assembly.
Reading and interpreting drawings.
Following and maintaining preheats as per procedure.
Repairing cast steel.
Grinding.
Experience with gouging would be an asset.
