Job Description

Rothesay Netherwood School is an independent co-educational boarding and day school for students in Grades 6 to 12, with our RNS Camps Program running a variety of camps and activities throughout the year.

We are looking for an aspiring cook to join the Food Services Team. This would be a part-time position Saturday and Sunday (approximately 20 hours per week).

Responsibilities and Duties

Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes (i.e. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)

Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal preparation procedures

Ensure that the kitchen, all food preparation areas and all food storage areas meet cleaning standards

Work with team to do portion preparation work for other shifts when needed

Clean up stations and facilitate the care of leftover food

Monitor and communicate stock inventory levels appropriately

Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, students, and staff

Finish tasks and abide by work schedule

Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures

Open to receive feedback and coaching to grow in an ever-changing environment

Other duties, as required

Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma / GED required

Ability to work on your feet for eight hours or more a day

High level of professionalism

Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Excellent verbal communication, organizational skills, and an attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as a team member

Ability to interact with students of all ages and cultures

An exceptional ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks at a time

Strong customer service skills and a positive, proactive can-do attitude

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis

Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly

Willing to assist with other duties as required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $16.50 per hour
