Job Description


The Edmonton Police Service has an opportunity for one (1) motivated Website Content Writer able to work in a fast-paced environment as part of the Corporate Communications team. Working closely with the Digital Media Supervisor to coordinate the content owned and generated by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) for its Internet and Intranet websites, responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Implementing and assisting with the enforcement of content appropriate use policies.
  • Coordinating the editorial and quality assurance process with content creators, such as writers and web designers.
  • Managing information submission to and updating of intranets, extranets, website, portals, etc.
  • Participating in the development and integration of graphical and multimedia components into the EPS\xe2\x80\x99 web presence.
  • Assisting in analyzing and reporting on intranet/extranet/portal/site user feedback.
  • Writing news items and articles for both internal and external websites.
  • Assisting in developing new tools for EPS members to use via an online interface.
  • Coordinating the EPS digital signage program.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized Community College or technical institution with a diploma or certificate in web applications, web design, web writing or related discipline.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience with proven web writing and web development skills.
  • Experience using desktop publishing software, including InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of the Internet, Social Media, and HTML programming.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, layout, photography, and design.
  • The ability to maintain excellent working relationships and deliver a high standard of communications services.
  • Must be able to work both independently with minimal supervision and as an integral part of a team.
  • Knowledge of a police environment is an asset.
  • Previous work experience in a communications department would be an asset.
  • Applicants may be tested.
  • As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:

33.75 hours per week, 0800 \xe2\x80\x93 1600 hours Monday - Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.

Salary Range:

21M, Salary Grade: 014, $29.38 - $36.80 (Hourly), $1,983.50 - $2,484.50 (Bi-Weekly), $51,769.02 - $64,846.49 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
