Job Description


Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Marketing, the Web Content Optimization Specialist role maintains and updates content across multiple websites for the Lassonde School of Engineering (LSE). The Web Content Optimization Specialist role is responsible for the creation of new web pages (including text, images, and video), formatting and publishing pages and inserting relevant links and page redirects. The role will also audit, edit, and maintain existing web content, incorporating Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices. In addition, the role will be responsible for sourcing images, formatting and resizing image files and ensuring accessibility (AODA) compliance of text and multimedia content on all websites. The Web Content Optimization Specialist role will also be responsible for preparing reports and providing recommendations for improvement using tools, including Google Analytics.The role supports the vision, purpose, values and strategic direction of the Lassonde School of Engineering and York University, and contributes to a positive, supportive student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.

Education:
University Degree in Communications, Information Management or Web Content Management, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.

Experience:
Two (2) years' recent experience in website development, which includes building websites, maintaining websites, and editing web pages and content.

Skills:

Advanced knowledge of MSOffice Suite and related programs.
Intermediate experience working with WordPress.
Demonstrated effective experience in aligning dynamic web content with marketing and strategic goals.
Intermediate experience with SEO best practices.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong writing and editing and communication skills.
Experience with Google Analytics, creating reports, providing recommendations.
Demonstrated skills related to working effectively and concurrent prioritization of multiple projects.
Experience sourcing and editing images (cropping, colour correction, scaling, sizing).
Experience writing and editing copy for web is an asset. Other:
Familiarity with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and accessible design methods and techniques.
HTML knowledge is an asset.
