Position Summary The Web Content Coordinator acts as the main point of contact for reviewing and publishing content on Bow Valley College\xe2\x80\x99s external website and digital platforms. The candidate will create new content for the College\xe2\x80\x99s external website using the CMS and conduct on-going review of College website pages for context, accuracy, adherence to brand standards, and search engine optimization (SEO).
Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities include, but are not limited to: Content Management 60%

  • Ensures copy is web-friendly and adheres to the Bow Valley College brand voice, photos are web compliant and contain all relevant meta-tags.
  • Ensures webpages are placed and published within the correct content locations.
  • Uses technical knowledge (HTML/CSS) to fix simple issues or bugs within pages.
  • Assists with project support for all new pages and sections within the website.
  • Works with Manager Digital and Web to identify and achieve strategic goals and priorities across the College\xe2\x80\x99s digital channels.
  • Plans and implements content retirement cycles across the college\xe2\x80\x99s web platforms; decommissions, revises and restructures content in a manner that aligns with strategic marketing and communication priorities.
Support \xe2\x80\x93 30%
  • Triages relevant technical issues and responds to any content or CMS queries.
  • Makes updates to the website where teams need additional support.

Training and Documentation \xe2\x80\x93 5%
  • Assists in the organizing and creation of training materials with new and existing content contributors (groups and individuals)
  • Updates and amends the Bow Valley College Visual Identity Guide.
  • Works with ITS Software Developers to translate user requirements.

Reporting and Insights \xe2\x80\x93 5%
  • Coordinates with the SEO Specialist to generate reports based on recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Certificate or Diploma in a related field (Web Development, Marketing, Communications, Digital Media).
  • Extensive working knowledge of HTML, Content Management Systems, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and best practices.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills; able to speak to a technical subject to an audience\xe2\x80\x99s level of understanding.
  • An equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience formatting files for the web in order to maximize accessibility.
  • Ability to work with and prioritize web content, the creation and editing of content, and the adherence to brand, web and writing style guidelines.
