Waymarker Hospitality is now considering candidates for the position of Director - Rooms Division in Waterton Lakes National Park Alberta. Waymarker owns and operates four hotels in the park ( 2 year-round - Kilmorey Lodge and Crandell Mountain Lodge; and 2 seasonal properties - Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort and Aspen Lodge)
This is a year-round position for immediate hire and provides an attractive compensation package.
Reporting directly to the Area General Manager and the Waterton Rooms Division Director is a key part of the senior leadership team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the rooms division of hotel operations. The Waterton Rooms Division Director will ensure professional daily oversight of Housekeeping/Laundry and Front Desk Guest Services. In addition, this role is expected to improve all operational efficiencies and contribute to strategic planning for future Rooms Division operations. This is a critical role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences, engagement and development of the employee and management teams, as well as achievement of business and financial goals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assume overall responsibility for all rooms division hotel operations
Work with and contribute to planning and initiatives undertaken Ownership and Executive Team
Monitor the financial and service standards for the rooms division
Contribute to the development of the organization's strategy and ensure co-operation across departments
Monitor departmental performance against goals and take corrective action when necessary, including implementing cost-savings measures
Provide written and verbal reports on financial and operational activities on an ongoing basis, and as requested from time to time
Assist Managers in scheduling staff and some staff activities
Supervise, and provide advice, support, guidance, and direction to staff; monitor the performance of staff on an on-going basis, conduct ongoing performance management of your team which includes recognition, constructive criticism, annual and quarterly reviews, etc.
Contribute to the preparation of budgets and monitor expenses.
Respond to employee questions regarding policies and procedures, deals with customer complaints and comments.
Address and troubleshoot problems and concerns.
Consistent approach to inspection and correction, where necessary, of hotel cleanliness and appearance.
Ensures maintenance requests are responded to in a timely manner.
Ensure available room inventory is maintained and rooms not out of order unnecessarily.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join our team. Applicant should be outgoing, self-motivated, goal-oriented individual with exceptional guest relations, problem-solving and organizational abilities. Proven leadership abilities should include effective employee retention skills, training and performance management. Labour and resource budgeting experience is an asset.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years' experience in housekeeping or front desk management. Additional management experience in other aspects of hotel operations like food and beverage, sales and marketing or maintenance would be an asset. A degree/diploma in Business Administration and/or Hospitality Management programs will also be preferred.
For consideration any candidates must have outstanding communication skills, be well organized, provide strategic thinking and planning, and have an attention to detail.
