Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Waterjet Operator to join our manufacturing team. Training is available for the candidate with the right mix of aptitudes, skills and physical stamina. Past experience in metal fabrication or CNC operation may transfer well to this position. At all times working safely is the number one priority. Our Machine Operators are responsible for the safe operation and trouble shooting of the equipment they are using.

Your daily routine will start off by spending a few minutes getting prepared to complete the day's work orders. You will then put your skills to work, ensuring that all materials and tools required for the day are available and in place. While the Waterjet is running, you will be carefully cleaning, inspecting, measuring and organizing all guide bars as they are cut as well as ensuring the piece count is correct and the cut is within tolerances. You will pick/put-away inventory and complete the paperwork accurately for the machines you are operating. You will be attentive and engaged in your work. You will be Quality Conscious at all times. You are flexible to shift changes or overtime that may be necessary to meet industry and customer demands.

Duties:

operate, monitor and maintain our OMAX Waterjet cut parts from sheets of steel with accuracy to the expected tight tolerance prepare cut blanks for shipping to subcontractors receive heat treated blanks from subcontractors inspect waterjet cut blanks for quality and accuracy pick and put-away inventory accurately complete paperwork in a legible and complete manner organize consumables and perform monthly inventory counts perform routine maintenance on the Waterjet to keep the machine in optimal condition troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the Waterjet and make necessary adjustments or repairs communicate any issues with the Waterjet to our Production Manager follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area ensure machines are shut down at the end of each day and ready for the next day assist your team members with various tasks in the production processes, inventory control and shop housekeeping and organization as required
Skills:

To excel in this role, you must have the following skills:

ability to multitask with focus and operate multiple machines mechanical knowledge and proficiency in operating an OMAX Waterjet, or the ability to learn operation and maintenance ability to examine parts for quality assurance, stop processes if errors are found, and implement remedies to any issue found ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg) possess physical stamina to kneel, bend, squat, push, pull and reach above and below the waist proficient at using calipers and micrometers to measure parts to be within specifications ability to read drawings and interpret details ability to comprehend and follow instructions proficient in basic math calculations for measuring and understanding fractional and decimal equivalents can communicate clearly and effectively in English (speaking, reading and writing independently) are motivated to learn new skills and take pride in delivering quality products have experience operating a forklift have excellent safety hygiene and common sense be able to stand for the duration of your shift
