Job Summary (LOCAL CANDIDATES IN VICTORIA BC ONLY).

Capital City Paving is currently hiring for a hybrid role that combines the duties of a

Water Truck Driver

and a

Laborer

. This is a hands-on position driving the water truck, as well as physical labor duties on our grading and paving crews. We're looking for a reliable, safety-minded team player who's comfortable operating equipment and contributing to manual labor tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Water Truck Operation

Operate a water truck to control dust and assist with compaction on job sites. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report maintenance issues. Monitor water levels and refill from approved sources as needed. Apply water safely and efficiently, adjusting spray for site conditions. Maintain cleanliness and minor upkeep of the truck.

Grading Crew Labour

Assist with grading and site prep by shoveling, raking, and spreading materials. Use hand tools and light equipment (plate compactors, tampers, etc.). Support equipment operators with layout and ground-level guidance. Install and remove traffic control signage and safety barricades. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

Valid Class 3 Driver's License

with Air Brake Endorsement (required or willing to obtain). Clean and current driver's abstract. Experience operating a water truck or similar equipment Experience in road construction, paving, or grading work (preferred). Physically fit and able to perform heavy manual labor in various weather conditions. Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a willingness to be part of a team. Able to follow direction and communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors. Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Work Conditions:

Pay: $27.00-$31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
