Under the general direction of the Water Treatment Systems Engineer, the Water Treatment Operations Engineer manages the Engineering Section of the Water Treatment and Supply Branch (Branch). The Water Treatment Operations Engineer is responsible for supervising the Engineering Section and delivering professional engineering, contract administration, management, and administrative services for operations, maintenance, and capital improvement initiatives associated with the Branch.
The Water Treatment and Supply Branch is responsible for operation and maintenance of the City of Winnipeg's potable water treatment and supply systems. These systems are made up of complex and aging infrastructure which include, but are not limited to, the Shoal Lake Intake Facility, the Shoal Lake and Branch Aqueducts, the Winnipeg Drinking Water Treatment Plant (WTP), the Deacon Reservoirs, the Deacon Booster Pumping Station and Chemical Feed Facility, in-town booster stations, Regional Pumping Stations and Reservoirs, and Greater Winnipeg Water District Railway and associated facilities.
The Water Treatment Operations Engineer oversees an annual chemical and consultant (professional and non-professional) budgets of approximately $15 million. This position is key to providing safe, reliable, and uninterrupted 24/7 Water Treatment and Supply service to the City of Winnipeg.
