Position Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Water Services, the Student Labourer will support general maintenance tasks related to water services.
Key Responsibilities:
General maintenance assistance, including:
+ Painting fire hydrants
+ Weed whipping around fire hydrants and appurtenances
+ Restoration of lawns
+ Facility cleaning, vehicle and equipment maintenance
+ Assist water operators with tasks including water meter installation, site inspections and delivery of letters/notices to customers. Comply with applicable provincial and municipal legislation, including the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the Municipality's Records and Information Management Program.
Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, and the Municipality's Health and Safety Program.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Must be a full-time student enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary school in a related field and returning to school at the end of the summer employment term.
Heavy lifting will be required at times.
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work well as a team and independently.
Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class 'G2' or 'G' Driver's Licence.
Experience driving heavy-duty full-size pickups and large trucks up to 550 series is considered an asset.
Experience with the operation of weed eaters and lawn edgers is considered an asset.
Experience in a construction environment would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of Leamington and the surrounding area would be an asset.
Upon hire and when requested, must obtain a satisfactory police clearance.
Hours of Work and Working Conditions:
40 hours per week (Monday-Friday).
