As a Water Resources Field Technician working within the Kitchener Land Development Division, you will be responsible for the installation/removal of monitoring equipment within stormwater management (SWM) facilities, wetlands, and watercourses, conducting manual sampling tasks, downloading continuous monitoring data, processing the necessary monitoring data, preparing SWM O&M manuals and associated annual monitoring reports, while contributing to the development of hydraulic modeling of water courses (creeks/rivers) and infrastructure, the sizing of SWM facilities, and the design of low impact development solutions.

Responsibilities:



Conduct a variety of field sampling and data collection activities to support Draft Plan of Subdivision approvals, Final Engineering approvals, stormwater management facility design and Final Acceptance, and all related ongoing monitoring requirements; Complete field-based investigations such as surface water sampling (i.e. TSS sampling, temperature and flow monitoring), sample preparation, and submission to analytical laboratories; Coordinate and communicate with internal project teams, including Project Managers, Designers, and Design Engineers; Completion of field-based deliverables, including field notes, data assessment, photo logs, and the installation of data collection equipment; Assist with preparation of technical reports in consultation with a Water Resource Engineer and the Project Manager; Execute under direct supervision of Senior Engineers and continue development of career by working on various technical assignments; Attend and participate in project team meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure efficient and timely delivery of project deliverables; Comply with MTE's company policies and procedures pertaining to health and safety; Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:



Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Applied Science, or a related field; 0-2 years of relevant work experience (including co-op experience); Future eligibility as a P.Eng. designation is considered an asset, but not required; Experience in sample collection and use of field equipment; Experience with technical report writing; Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act; Working knowledge of engineering principals and design standards; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Strong time management skills, problem solving skills, decision-making abilities, accompanied by attention to detail; Working knowledge of MS Office software, including Outlook, Excel and Word; A valid Driver's License and access to a vehicle, as travel to project sites is required. Mileage for work related travel will be reimbursed.
