We are seeking a highly motivated Water Resources Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and managing water resource projects, ensuring sustainable and efficient solutions. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects involving civil and environmental engineering principles, utilizing advanced software tools and project management techniques. The Water Resources Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that meet client needs and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models for Conservation Authorities, Municipal, Road, Highway, Rail and Transit projects, including watershed modeling, floodplain mapping, and flow simulations.
Design and review hydraulic and civil structures, such as dams, bridges, weirs, culverts, channels, erosion protection, and detention ponds.
Analysis and design of stormwater management systems, municipal infrastructure (watermains, storm and sanitary sewers), capacity assessments, floodplain mapping, and support for flood risk and drainage studies.
Prepare technical reports and memorandums
Complete field assessments, analysis and evaluations as required
Manage regulatory applications and approvals
Provide support for construction activities as Project Engineer or Contract Administrator
Assist with proposal preparation and business development
Lead and support Master Environmental Servicing Plans, Subwatershed Studies, and Floodplain Analysis projects.
Coordinate stormwater design components with other disciplines, including grading, utilities, and transportation.
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics and hydraulic principles for open channel flow and closed conduits
Manage the collection and validation of as-built drawings and modelling data from clients and authorities.
Ability to analyze data from field investigations, topographic surveys, including LIDAR.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and sub-consultants to ensure coordinated and integrated project delivery.
Prepare and supervise engineering studies, environmental assessments, reports, calculations, plans and contract documents, cost estimates, and construction documents.
Lead and manage project teams through all phases of conceptual and detailed design of municipal civil projects including rural and urban roads, sewers, watermains, drainage, etc.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering with a specialization in water resources engineering. Postgraduate Degree in Water Resources would be an asset.
Minimum of 10 years of water resources engineering experience, preferably in an engineering consulting environment.
License Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) from PEO. Candidates who are in the process of obtaining their P.Eng. license or are nearing completion of the requirements may also be considered.
Strong understanding of water resources engineering principles.
Must have good knowledge and experience in modelling such as PCSWMM, Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, Culvert Master, and Hy-8
Proven experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, System Design software such as HECRAS or HEC-RAS.
Proficiency in GIS tools including ArcGIS and GIS-based modeling techniques.
Familiarity with construction estimating, inspection procedures, schematics development, and drafting standards.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts relevant to water systems is a plus.
Must possess a valid driver's license
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
