Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and physically resilient Water Jet Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of our water jet cutting systems. A key and regular part of this position involves intensive manual cleaning and maintenance of the equipment to ensure optimal performance and a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will be hard-working, detail-oriented, and comfortable with physically demanding tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Operation & Production:

Set up, operate, and monitor water jet cutting machines according to job orders. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure precise cutting specifications. Load and unload materials, and perform quality checks on finished parts. Perform basic machine troubleshooting and report any mechanical issues.

Cleaning & Intensive Maintenance:

Perform intensive monthly cleaning of the machine bed, which involves digging out and removing accumulated metal pieces and sediment by hand using shovels and other tools. Empty and manage sandbags and other filtration components on a weekly basis, or as required by production cycles. Wear provided personal protective equipment (PPE), including extended-length protective boots, to safely perform cleaning tasks in a wet and muddy environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area to uphold high safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

Previous experience as a Water Jet Operator or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment is a strong asset. Ability to perform physically demanding, labour-intensive tasks, including lifting, shoveling, and standing for extended periods. A strong focus on safety and a commitment to following all company protocols. Reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working in a wet, industrial environment.
