As a Water Educator, you will be responsible for communicating with customers to encourage environmentally sustainable water and climate practices and stewardship behaviours, attitude shifts, and acceptance of low water use technologies and actions. Primary duties include:
Deliver exceptional educational presentations on water efficiency, sustainable water management, and climate change to a variety of audiences.
Interface with customers (including youth, residential, commercial, other City of Calgary departments).
Educate customers on efficient use of water resources through innovative technology, behaviours, and irrigation systems.
Develop and plan presentations.
Promote a variety of customer and public programs.
Assist at public events.
Qualifications
A completed 2 year diploma in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science Education or a related field and at least 1 year of related experience.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required for this position.
A valid Class 5 Driver\'s License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver\'s License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator\'s permit.
Experience writing and presenting to a public audience through work experience as an educator, interpreter or equivalent position would an asset.
Previous knowledge or experience of conservation programs in a public works setting is desirable.
Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, strong customer service focus with the ability to work with others and independently with minimal direct supervision.
Working Conditions: This position requires heavy repetitive lifting.

Days of Work: Vary based on operational requirements. This position works daytime, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Hours of work: Non-standard 35 hour work week
