The Job - Water Damage Technician



At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup (yes, sometimes it's one of those situations) or other water-related disaster calls. Understanding the urgency of the situation and working with customers in a caring, calm and empathetic manner are paramount to the success of a WDTs day!

Working as a team, WDTs mop up the mess, set up drying machines and ensure everything is shipshape and ready to get back to the pre-disaster state.

Additional abilities include:

Previous restoration industry experience dealing with water damage and drying machines Mechanical aptitude-- you can look at something and just know how it works Interest in cross training into Remediation, Contents Cleaning, Emergency, and helping all teams Demolition Experience with hand and power tools Organized with a good sense of time-- you're rarely late and know where all your tools are Physically fit-- water damage can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places Friendly and enjoys working in a team! A safety-first mindset Valid driver's licence & clean drivers abstract Able to successfully satisfy On Side's criminal record check requirements Ability to communicate in English: written and spoken Tech savvy (using phone apps and computer programs to record info as required)
Past industry experience that can translate into success as a WDT includes: Water Damage Tech, Lead Water Damage Tech, Restoration Tech, Restoration Industry Experience.

Other stuff that will contribute to your success but isn't required:



IICRC Water Damage Technician Certification (if you don't have this, we'll help you get it!)

Of Note



Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Are you fluent reading / writing/ speaking English? If no, please rank your skills out of 10. Do you have restoration industry experience working with water damage and drying tools (air movers, negative air machines, pressurized drying systems, floor drying systems, dehumidifiers, moisture meters)? Tell us why you would be the best person for this job. This position requires lots of standing, crouching, bending, reaching, kneeling, etc. Are you capable of this kind of constant movement? Cross training and helping other team members is required for this role. Successful candidates will be trained in Demolition, Contents, and Remediation. Are you able and willing to train and work in other roles? Are you comfortable driving a large fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets? If not, are you willing to learn? Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours as per the schedule. Premium and overtime is paid. This branch has a small team and everyone gets along and helps each other. Tell us about your experience fitting in and being a good team member. Do you consider yourself to be tech savvy? This position is 80% paperless and operating software, phones, tablets, etc will be mandatory. Do you have any valid (or expired) IICRC certificates? If yes, please list them here. Are you capable of repetitive heavy lifting? Moving equipment, furniture and heavy items are the norm in this position so being physically capable is a requirement.

Restoration Industry (Water Damage): 1 year (preferred) demolition: 1 year (preferred)
