Role description:

The Arcadis Canada Water Team is growing. Arcadis is seeking a Wastewater Engineer with experience in the design and operation of MBR Systems (Membrane BioReactor) and Micro-Fast Wastewater treatment systems to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Seeking candidates local to Calgary as the Engineer will work closely with Wastewater Treatment Operators in the field. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring travel to site and ability to work in office or remote.

The Wastewater Engineer will lead work in close collaboration with our teams in Canada and the United States to expand the water business line. The Engineer must also have technical knowledge and background to provide technical support on related engineering tasks.

Role accountabilities:

The Wastewater Engineer will work closely with Wastewater Treatment Operators in the field providing the highest quality of service to our clients by possessing exceptional technical and managerial skills in the design, construction and operations of wastewater facilities and related infrastructure. Ability to calculate F:M ratios, and other design parameters required to ensure proper operation of the MBR system. Having a strong understanding regulatory and permitting requirements in the province of Alberta is preferred. Extensive knowledge of Alberta codes for operating wastewater system, electrical codes, and requirements for explosive proof pumps and blowers and experience in operating MBR and MicoFast treatment systems is an asset.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Direct and assist the operator on the proper method for CIP and the required frequency and assess the performance of the MicoFAST and MBR wastewater treatment systems;
  • Assist the operator in overseeing operation of wastewater treatment plant, prepare and approve daily reports, technical memoranda, and electronic deliverables;
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls (callouts), comply with health and safety requirements;
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing;
  • Assist with studies and alternative analysis;
  • Assist with development of permitting exhibits and permit applications.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation) preferred
  • Valid driver\'s license and good driving record as travel to local sites is a requirement for this role
Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience preferred
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in civil engineering or similar field with specialization in wastewater required
  • Professional Engineer OR Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification preferred
