Position Overview: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Waste Material handler to join our Kitimat Waste Services team. Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Ensure that all equipment is operated in compliance with Secure Energy\'s standards
  • Monitor, inventory and inspect waste containers onsite to ensure proper segregation, compliance and capacity
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a clean and organized waste storage area
  • Ensure waste storage compliance of containers
  • Open containers and review the contents to ensure cohesion between the waste and its corresponding paperwork
  • Repack like waste into larger means of containment for efficient transportation and disposal
  • Prepare proper documentation manifests for disposal and recycle which includes generating labels, applicable paperwork
  • Attend safety meetings and daily tailgate meetings
  • Abide by Secure Energy\'s Occupational Health and Safety Program
  • Actively conduct and complete daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA), Hazard ID\xe2\x80\x99s and inspections as required
  • Utilize appropriate PPE for task at hand including chemical protective garments and respiratory protection
  • Review of SDS/analytical to ensure safe waste handling
  • Entry of all inbound, repacked and outbound data into waste tracking system
  • Provide general labour services as required

Qualifications:
  • Physically fit and able to perform physical tasks on a daily basis including lifting, moving containers and other heavy materials, along with the ability to spend a major portion of each day on your feet
  • Previous experience in a related work environment where TDG or WHMIS is an essential part of the job is an asset but not required
  • Understanding of BC waste regulations and waste classification is an asset
  • Good understanding of the regional Occupational Health and Safety requirements is an asset
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments and long demanding work days
  • Competent at completing documents on a daily basis including shipping documents, and safety paperwork
  • Good computer skills and efficient at using MS Office would be an asset
  • Good time management skills and ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience is preferred but we will train the right person
