Job Description


Primary Focus This position is accountable to service the material handling needs of the customer base for Metal Supermarkets Winnipeg. The individual is expected to be aware of and support all goals relating to sales plans and costs and to conduct him/herself in a professional manner conducive to generating a team attitude toward maintaining effective customer relationships. Specific Accountabilities

  • Accountable for maintaining the company\'s integrity and representing its value proposition in a consistent and proactive manner
  • Provide consistent, superior service by ensuring that all customer needs are recognized and serviced, and satisfaction is highly maintained at all times.
  • Support the achievement of sales/budget targets, which includes attention to maintaining stock control, gross margins and managing cost budgets.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Franchisee/ Store Manager/ Sr. Customer Service Rep.
  • Process orders safely and accurately the first time around
  • Prepare customer orders based on material and size specifications.
  • Ship customer orders. Prepare material for shipment by truck, courier or customer pickup.
  • Handle inter-store transfers.
  • Safe operation of all equipment and lifting procedures to ensure accurate order processing
  • Operate a variety of equipment including saws and forklifts.
  • Keep updated on safe operation and lifting procedures to safely and accurately process orders.
  • Complete Forklift operation training and any other training provided for operation of equipment.
  • Identify to management equipment or situations requiring resolution to ensure safe operation.
  • Ensure the effective and consistent receiving of material in the store and effectively managing inventory for efficient store operation
  • Receive, identify and stock incoming materials as per Receiving Procedures. These inventory responsibilities include identifying inventory needs.
  • Participate in inventory control.
  • Assist walk-in customers in the warehouse area
  • Determine materials required by customers and direct them to the appropriate areas within the warehouse.
  • Provide information and answer customers\xe2\x80\x99 questions.
  • Communicate effectively with all applicable stakeholders to keep them informed with respect to general warehouse operations
  • Provide updates on out-of- the ordinary orders, etc. and recommend solutions for problems encountered.
  • Update management on facility upkeep and equipment maintenance.
  • Identify any issues requiring resolution on a timely basis.
  • Identify and perform required facility upkeep and general equipment maintenance
  • Provide proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and safe for customers and other employees.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Delivery and Pick up of customer and Vendor orders
  • Short run and in town pick-up and delivery of Metal Supermarket purchases
Metal Supermarket purchases Education/Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • Grade 12 education and previous experience in a warehouse role.
  • Forklift and saw and shear experience is an asset.
  • Previous industrial shop experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to read imperial measurements (inches and feet).
  • Positive attitude, well-groomed and good customer presentation.
  • Able to communicate fluently in English.
  • Possession of valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence
  • Must be over 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Warehouse environment, Monday to Friday, 8:00-4:30 or 8:30 to 5 and occasional Saturdays
  • Requires operation of forklift, saws, shears, truck and other equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Fast-paced work environment requiring a significant amount of standing
  • Reliable transportation to and from work location is required.
