The Central Okanagan Food Bank is the largest food bank in the BC interior. We serve over 12,000 individuals per month, 44% are children under the age of 15 another 20% are seniors on a fixed income. Additionally, we provide food aid to support 42 partner agencies in the community and distribute food to 32 other food banks in the Interior region. Our impact continues to grow.

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time Warehouse Team Member and Driver to support our warehouse operations. In this position you will also support our food rescue program by collecting items from our valued partners in a company 3-ton, 5-ton or transit van. Reporting to the Food Rescue Coordinator, this role includes driving a scheduled food pick-up route, general shipping and receiving duties, handling and culling of recovered foods, general cleaning, and other warehouse-related duties as required. Warehouse Team Members and Drivers are a key part of our food recovery and donation team helping ensure that no food is wasted.

Key Responsibilities

Picking up reclaimed and donated food from various local locations

Driving, loading, and unloading the truck

Pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

Maintain a clean truck, and re-fuel when necessary

Address and resolve problems as appropriate

Inform manager of outstanding issues

Provide great customer service at all times

Loading and unloading pallets

Assisting in food sorting

Assist in other areas of the operation, as needed

General shipping and receiving support

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

A valid BC Class 5 driver's license and clean driver's abstract (provide with resume). Minimum of 1 year driving experience. Ability to work weekends and statutory holidays Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs Strong interpersonal communication skills and able to effectively write notes and comprehend written instructions Strong attention to detail Knowledge of all facts of truck operations, including securing of freight. Knowledge of road safety regulations. Positive attitude and experience in customer service Ability to work independently with little supervision

Experience

driving: 1 year (Preferred) valid forklift certificate (Preferred) Warehouse experience (Preferred)
Compensation

Hourly rate from $20
