Reporting to the Supervisor of the Reach out Centre Foodbank (ROC), this part-time role will provide support for the Food Bank and warehousing of the Reach Out Centre. This support role will also be responsible for keeping the warehouse and pantry organized while making sure to follow food safety guidelines.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Work alongside the Supervisor, ROC in both the warehouse at our Foodbank
Receive, sort, count, weigh, label, pack and unpack, portion dry goods, quality-checking and distributing donations ( pulling, pushing, lifting, tracking, receiving of donations)
Load, unload and move products and materials by hand, or through the use of our onsite Forklift
Maintain inventory and assist in managing the flow and distribution of food/ donations through the programs, experience in MS office is a must.
Perform administrative duties such as filing, record keeping, inventory tracking, timesheets and inventory records, and database creation
Perform outdoor maintenance, such as cut the grass, weed removal, shovel, salt when necessary, etc.
Attend/ participate in fundraising Meal Program/Food Bank activities and community events during evenings and or/weekends when required.
Answer phone calls and provide direction/ support and referrals to those seeking information about Port Cares services
Clean and maintain warehouse and related offices as required.
Work collaboratively with Port Cares team members, students, clients and volunteers
Perform regular inspections of the food and supplies storage area ensuring all areas are stocked and maintained
Report all health and safety concerns to site supervisor
Ensure that all work is completed in a safe and timely manner
Respect and follow all Port Cares policies and procedures
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
2-3 years of experience in a warehouse setting is an asset
Secondary school diploma
Computer skills is a must
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and provide a clear driver's abstract
Current Fork Life Certificate and Safe Food Handling Certificate
Ability to work in a team setting with staff and volunteers
Self-managed, demonstrates initiative and ability to multi-task
Must be able to lift approximately 50+ lbs as well as push, pull, bend, carry, stand for an extended period of time
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated responsibility, maturity and leadership abilities
Understand the importance of proper inventory handling (Example: FIFO)
Non-judgmental/respect and sensitivity for individual cultural, educational and social uniqueness and diversity
Ability to maintain confidentiality for all community members accessing services from Port Cares
Willingness to work flexible hours throughout the month, as well as willingness to participate in Port Cares events and fundraisers
Willingness to perform all other duties as required
