Our Operations:



Fresh4U Farms Ltd. is a greenhouse farming operation with 18 acres of vegetables under glass currently under construction in Abbotsford and with a 20-acre rental property in Delta (for 2023 growing season).

We are committed to producing and packing safe produce through the use of good agricultural practices, with a focus on principles of quality, taste, and food safety. Integral to this commitment is an organized and well-functioning operation. This role is an integral part of this commitment.

About the role:



The Warehouse Manager is instrumental in completion of the daily packing and shipping activities. This position entails assisting of the management of packaging produce for shipping, checking orders for accuracy, maintaining quality standards, and receiving inventory and other supplies. Central to this position is daily communication with Facility Manager and staff.

Responsibilities:



The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

General Duties:



Maintaining cleanliness and order in packing and shipping area

Daily walk through of warehouse with Food Safety checklist

Fill foot baths as needed (weekly) and hand sanitizer

Ensure rodent traps are in correct place and checked weekly.

Shipping & Receiving:



Coordinate packing and delivery of produce as required by customer orders.

Maintain accurate records for all activities (shipping, deliveries of all things).

Organize BOLs and forward copies with Admin staff to enter data into Excel Sheet.

CHEP pallets: daily online update

Quality inspections of products shipped.

Monitor the packing and shipping of product, ensure product labelling is correct. Report problems to Facility Manager

Monitor and participate in the loading and unloading of shipments, including forklift work

Receiving of supplies and materials, checking quantities against paperwork, stamping and submitting documents to Admin staff

Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are documented and followed for all activities in the warehouse and shipping areas.

Employees:



Assist the Facility Manager to assign duties to the staff in each production area and then direct and supervise the teams to meet timelines.

Estimate labour requirements for jobs and plan work schedules accordingly.

Keep track of time spent packing and create labour reports.

Train staff as necessary to perform efficiently and effectively and within the guidelines required. This includes training and providing orientation regarding Food Safety and WorkSafeBC

Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures, including government programs such as Food Safety, WorkSafeBC, Temporary Foreign Workers program, etc.

Assist the Facility Manager to review workers' performance to evaluate the quality, and quantity and make performance evaluation reports.

Detect inefficient or unsafe work procedures or problems and initiate corrective actions as necessary.

Find ways to improve packing procedures and efficiency (decrease time it takes to pack)

Assist with daily approval of timesheets for all packing positions through timeclock system (no later than lunch the following day)

Communication:



Attend weekly and daily communication meetings inside the company, including with sales (agency), growers, and operations management.

Relaying quality issues to individual staff when issues come up.

Alert Manager when issues with sales orders arise.

Alert Manager when maintenance is required.

Assist and coordinate minor repairs.

Alert Manager when orders for more packaging materials, fertilizers or supplies are needed.

General Maintenance:



Monitoring and maintaining packaging equipment and problem-solving or repairing when needed. Try to complete all repairs and maintenance before calling a tradesperson.

Maintenance documentation (logbook) and preventative maintenance measures

Aid with Scale Calibration

Food Safety:



Ensure Food Safety Program procedures are followed in the warehouse; help with completion of all forms. Participate in Food Safety Audits

Inventory:



Weekly checks of inventory on hand (during growing season) Track depleting inventory and consult with manager responsible to order more Inventory counts when required, including annual audits at year end

Education:

Licensing/Registrations/Certifications:

First Aid, Level 2 Food Safety Certification Forklift Ticket
Experience

Two years of experience in a similar or comparable role

Location and commitments:



The Warehouse Manager is selected by, and reports to, the Facility Manager. This position will be working primarily indoors in a climate-controlled, smoke-free office and/or warehouse and growing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position is a full-time position.

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
