The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for handling, moving, loading and unloading materials by Lift Truck and/or using a variety of material handling equipment in the delivery of services to the client in accordance with ASCO policy, procedures, work instructions and agreed service level agreements.

Put away of material and confirm bin location within system
Picking and sorting of materials
Assist in inventory count
Maintain warehouse control and security of tools & equipment
Forklift training and WHIMIS
Certified to drive a front-end load (Advantage)
Certified to operate a crane (Advantage)
General lifting knowledge and familiarity of crane movements and procedures
General knowledge of oil field material
Knowledge of hand signals and radio communication
Ability to work safe and recognize safety risks to yourself and others
HSEQ
Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with appropriate HSEQ procedures
Ensure that all formal role specific / applicable procedures, work instructions and safety standards are complied with at all times
Report any significant incidents / breaches of policy or regulation to the line manager
Notify line supervisor of any hazards
Attend safety meetings
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older.
Education. High school diploma or equivalent
Experience. Warehouse experience preferred. Forklift experience preferred.
Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)
The minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform WPT receiving job tasks include:
Physical Fitness. There is a physicality to warehouse work. One must be physically able to sustain such duties as lifting and moving around goods. WPT's are frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
Organizational Skill. A WPT must also be detail-oriented and time savvy. In a working day, a WPT process materials in a timely manner. One misstep in handling these could hamper the entire process. Additionally, a warehouse worker must see to the efficient performance of his duty. There is always a schedule to follow, for which there are deadlines that cannot be bypassed.
IT Proficiency. The organization of warehouse stock is also facilitated using various information systems as determined by the company. WPT's must be comfortable with learning how to navigate new software systems (spreadsheets, databases, etc.).
Coachability: Being receptive to feedback, willing to learn, embracing continuous improvement
Customer focus: Striving for high customer satisfaction, going out of our way to be helpful and pleasant, making it as easy as possible on the customer.
Training Requirements
ASCO NL has established minimum training requirement for WPT's that are considered generic to this role and thus required by All WPT's.
WPT's can expect to receive additional training (over and above the minimum "Generic" requirements) in specific departmental knowledge areas. Department specific training are listed in the WPT Training Matrix below.
Beyond the minimum training requirements, WPT's who work in Receiving must:
a) Review Material Receipt Work Aid WA-NL-WH-001 annually and adhere to instructions within.
b) Receive hands on training and mentoring with client inventory systems (such as SAP).
A WPT's understanding shall be assessed upon the completion of training.
A WPT's general workplace competencies shall be assessed annually.
A WPT shall undergo thorough forklift competency assessment every three years (or as deemed necessary by management).
Regardless of department or position, ALL ASCO NL employees are required to attend and are expected to participate in a combination of arrangements and methods intended to facilitate learning, including (but not limited to); Safety Meetings, Tool Box Talks, Lessons Leaned, Workshops, Drills, etc.).
WPT's are expected to move between departments, based on operational requirements. As such, a WPT who typically works in the Receiving department may be asked to perform WPT tasks within any department.
