Warehouse Operator Order Picker

Job Description


The Distribution Centre Order Picker is responsible for accurately and quickly servicing a very fast paced client base while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in the industry. Warehouse Pickers are required to work in various climate conditions at the site, must be capable of lifting 5 - 50+ pounds repeatedly, while also using order pickers to build skids to be shipped out to clients. The employee must possess knowledge and skill in FIFO principals, as well as RF scanning equipment and be prepared to meet any challenge to complete delegated tasks in a timely fashion.

Hours of Work: 2 PM - 10 PM, Monday - Friday

  • Accurately gathering products and items to fulfil an order for an internal or external customer \xe2\x80\x93 usually same day
  • Loading and unloading trucks, and dry van trucks using warehouse machinery (Counterbalance, Reach & Order Pickers)
  • Perform daily pre-inspections of Order Pickers & Reach Trucks
  • Drive Order Picker / Reach between racks and pick and pack order from warehouse racking
  • Perform duties within the RF processes in place;
  • Process picked orders to prepare each box for shipment to client
  • Accurately build the products onto pallets, and prepare the pallets for shipping
  • Work proficiently against Efficiency and Quality targets
  • Maintain a strict housekeeping standard
  • Report safety and security issues to your direct supervisor
  • Perform inventory cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory numbers
  • Maintain a strict housekeeping standards;
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ad-hoc functions such as occasional administrative assistance in the office;
  • Communicate stock errors and discrepancies clearly and optimally with team members
  • Based on the needs of the business the employee may be asked to support various teams (Yard, Warehouse, Office)
  • Monitoring and processing of the paperwork for all orders that relate to Courier/LTL
Requirements
  • Completion of a high-school Diploma (OSSD)
  • Equivalent work experience in distribution and/or logistics
  • Successful candidate must complete a criminal background check as per our CTPAT policy.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience operating Order Pickers, Reach Forklifts and Counterbalance
  • Knowledgeable of safe operating practices for Order Pickers & Forklifts
  • Being knowledgeable on RF picking and loading processes is an asset
  • Must be functional in English (or French is an asset).
  • Must have certifications for specific machinery (Example: Order Picker, Raymond Reach, Counterbalance)
Working Conditions
  • Moderate requirement of physical activities producing physical stress and fatigue posture changes and visual attentiveness.
  • Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks within well-defined standards
  • Order picking involves at times performing in unfavorable or difficult climate conditions (extreme heat in the summer [inside warehouse], rain/snow fall for yard pickers);
  • Order pickers need to be prepared and equipped to perform despite difficult work conditions.
  • Workers must follow the rules in place as described in the Employee Handbook and Corporate guidelines.
  • Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the warehouse environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labour. Lifting, pulling and pushing heavy objects (5-50lbs), standing and walking covers majority of the work.
  • Personal safety is affected by dust and traffic caused by, forklift and order pickers.
  • Moderate amount of sensory attention is required.
  • Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stressed to this position.
