This is very HANDS ON position requiring a physical Warehouse Manager.

TOTAL Transportation Solutions is seeking a hands on leader. We primarily operate from a 66,000 square foot warehouse facility with additional off-site warehouse space we also need to manage. All locations can be very active on a day to day basis and require coverage.

Your primary responsibilities will be to plan and control all warehouse operations at your location. You will provide guidance and leadership to all staff, drivers and helpers within the warehouse at any given time. This will be done in a coordinated effort with all dispatchers to manage the efficiencies on a daily basis with a focus on controlling costs. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

We provide white glove moving, storage and inventory control for our customers. We handle various sizes of products including Computers, Electronics, Medical Systems, HVAC, and other unique items. Some items are large, heavy and sensitive that require extra staff to load and unload at times where you will need to be involved.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide overall management of warehouse and shipping / receiving staff. Meet daily with the Operations team to plan for all inbound and outbound activity. Ensure trucks and crews move in and out of warehouse efficiently with no waste. Organize, plan, direct and coordinate all workflow within the warehouse. Provide hands on support and assist with daily workload as needed. Optimize product positioning for best use of space. Manage the proper use of the bar code inventory system. Respond to requests for inventory information from other departments. Requisition supplies and materials. Manage tool inventory and make sure equipment is pulled and ready for next day. Recruit, hire and train staff when and as needed. Ensure policies are enforced and take part in performance reviews.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong personality to control the warehouse activities. Able to motivate, mentor and provide leadership to all staff. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Warehouse Manager. Must be forklift certified (class 7 preferred). Physically fit and able to assist with loading and unload during busy times.

The Ideal Candidates and Extra Considerations

Able to work flexible hours as and if needed. Having a hands on background in trucking/moving industry an asset. Experience operating a telehandler an asset. Past experience in dispatch/operations an asset. Experience with rigging an asset. AZ license a significant asset but not essential.
