The Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily coordination of warehouse operations to ensure accurate, efficient, and safe handling of inventory, inbound and outbound shipments, and staff workflow. This role acts as a key link between warehouse staff, drivers, purchasing, and office administration to ensure products move through the facility smoothly and accurately.
Coordinate daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, loading, and dispatch.
Assign and prioritize tasks for warehouse associates based on workload and delivery schedules.
Ensure workflow efficiency and adherence to shipping and receiving deadlines.
Receiving & Inventory Control
Oversee receiving of inbound shipments and verify accuracy against purchase orders.
Inspect incoming products for quality, damage, and expiration dates.
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and product rotation using FIFO methods.
Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages, overages, or discrepancies to management and purchasing.
Assist with regular cycle counts and full inventory counts.
Investigate and resolve inventory variances.
Shipping, Loading & Dispatch
Coordinate outbound shipments and ensure accurate order picking.
Verify load accuracy prior to dispatch.
Ensure delivery documentation (manifests, invoices, returns) is complete and accurate.
Coordinate driver departures and manage shipping schedules.
Returns, Credits & Shortages
Process customer returns and damaged goods.
Document shortages, damages, and returns with proper return codes and paperwork.
Communicate daily shorts and credits to the office and inventory teams.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Enforce warehouse safety standards, food safety requirements, and company policies.
Ensure proper handling of food products, temperature-sensitive items, and allergens.
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse conditions.
Promote safe equipment use including pallet jacks and forklifts.
Reporting & Administrative Support
Maintain accurate records related to receiving, shipping, inventory adjustments, and damages.
Prepare daily and weekly warehouse activity reports.
Assist with training new warehouse staff and cross-training team members.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum
2-4 years of warehouse or logistics experience
, preferably in a coordinator or lead role.
Work experience within the food distribution industry is a bonus.
Experience with
inventory management systems (WMS/ERP)
preferred.
Knowledge of
FIFO, food safety, and quality control procedures
.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with physical demands.
Forklift or pallet jack certification (or willingness to obtain).
Proficient in basic computer systems and warehouse software.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work on warehouse floors for extended periods.
