Job Description

Reporting to the Lead Hand the successful candidate will be responsible for the off-loading and deconsolidation, as well as the shipping of LTL/CME ground freight and Marine container cargo exams for the CBSA and CFIA. In addition this role involves container yard operations specifically operator of the Ottawa off-road shunt truck.

Principal Accountabilities

• Processing (off-loading, receiving and deconsolidation) of LTL and CME freight
• Off-load marine exam containers and stage cargo for examination by CBSA/CFIA
• Operation of the Ottawa Kalmar shunt truck to position trailer equipment into dock doors
• Manage and inventory control of equipment in yard storage
• Daily communication with transportation companies drivers, CBSA/CFIA inspectors and internal/external customers
• Manual freight handling including repetitive lifting of heavy items
• Health and Safety compliance in accordance with regulations and company policies
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all shipments and receipts
• Daily housekeeping of yard and warehouse areas
• Become an effective team member by participating in process improvement initiatives
• Performing other general administrative / warehouse duties and tasks as assigned

Knowledge and Skills

• Completion of high school or GED
• Minimum two years warehouse experience
• Trained and certified and experienced forklift operator (Counter Balance)
• Experience and trained in the operation of yard shunt truck(s)
• Must be able to continuously lift heavy items (60 lbs)
• Excellent accuracy and organization skills complimented by the ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Work effectively as a team player
• Excellent knowledge of overall warehousing process
• Minimum G driver's license. A-Z/D-Z license is an asset
